The Pensive Poet

Rain mists our thirsty garden

As cloak of bored darkness

Keeps the light from

Shining too brightly

Lulled into complacency

And tranquil resignation

The Light will come again

This battle today

Is not Its to fight

And after the gloom recedes

Blades of grass will stand

Defiantly green

Flowers will blossom

Bold in their intention

Parched ground will soften

As it yields to fertility

All will be reborn

Because of the darkness
